CORE One Setup Assembly (1/4)
Introduction
Before placing the Rewindr to the CORE One, we will first need to attach the MMU3, route the bowden tube, secure brackets etc.
The CORE One setup assembly is structured as follow:
- Drilling of CORE One Top-panel
- Routing of bowden tube
- Attaching brackets/MMU3 unit
- Buffer Unit assembly
- Final mounting and tube routing
Step 1
The following tools will be used for drilling:
- Power drill
- Step drill bit (for 14 mm diameter hole)
- Tape
- Lubricant (like WD40, or even water works)
- Drill-guide (1x)
Step 2
Mark the back-right corner of the CORE One's Top-panel with a piece of tape. This is where you will drill later.
Step 3
Let's first remove the CORE One's top-panel before drilling. Keep the nylon-rivets for later.
You can follow Prusa's guide by clicking here (Step 5).
Step 4
Important! Acrylic glass is prone to cracking if not handled correctly. Follow the instructions carefully to avoid damaging the Top-panel.
Start by attaching tape underneath the marked spot of the Top-panel This will create a cleaner hole when drilling.
Step 5
Place the Drill-guide on top of the Top-panel according to the picture.
ℹ️ The Drill-guide marks the spot were you will start drilling. Remove the Guide after you have begun drilling.
Step 6
Follow the drilling instructions:
It is recommended to watch this video before continuing.
- Place a piece of wood or similar underneath the spot being drilled.
- Apply a lubricant like WD-40 where you will drill (you can also use water). Always keep the surface and the drill bit lubricated while drilling (this will stop the acrylic glass from possibly melting).
- ⚠️DOUBLE CHECK that you're drilling the hole at the correct spot!
- Drill slowly and steadily! Drill a 14 mm diameter hole with the step-drill.
- Remove the Tape and clean up any residue around the hole.
Step 7
The hardest step is now done! Let's continue preparing the CORE One setup.
If you haven't already, modify the Nextruder to accommodate the MMU functionality. You can find the official Prusa guide by clicking here.
Keep the Bowden-bend-part, it will be used in the nex step.
Step 8
Please prepare the following parts:
- Panel-plug (1x)
- Panel-plug-nut (1x)
- Vent-handle (1x)
- Prusa's Bowden-bend (1x)
- 750 mm long PTFE-Tube (1x)
Step 9
Let's route the new tube for the MMU.
Start by pushing one end of the PTFE-tube through the bowden-bend.
After this, attach the tube to the Nextruder's PTFE-coupler.
Step 10
Push the bowden-bend down, covering the PTFE-coupler.
Route the PTFE-tube on top of the main-cable, securing it with the two cable-ties according to the picture.
Important! Don't route the tube through the last cable-tie, see picture.
Step 11
Let's go back to the Top-panel.
Snap the Panel-plug in the drilled hole, minding the correct orientation according to the picture.
